Days in Kyoto & Osaka

There’s something about the light in Japan – it’s so clean; so elegant and serene, much like Japan itself – seen in the simplest day-to-day actions of its inhabitants. A parking-garage attendant, clothed head-to-toe in blue, sketching a noble bow as scruffy tourists stream past him in Osaka; a woman calmly painting in the countryside of Asuka as a gaggle of school-girls observe in perfect silence; 6 am wake-up calls to find that even the most tourist-laden of sights have their still moments, early in the morning before this miraculous country awakens.
