Production of a sequel to Netflix’s Enola Holmes is set to happen very soon, and now, thanks to the recent TUDUM event, we know that another character from the first foray will be back for more adventure. A brief teaser for the follow-up confirms that Millie Bobby Brown will be reunited with her partner-in-crime and potential love affair Tewkesbury, played by Louis Partridge.

After the chemistry between the couple featured in the first film, the news of Tewkesbury’s return should wow fans Enola Holmes 2, which will again be led by Millie Bobby Brown in the title role and will again show Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes. Brown previously responded to news of a follow-up by saying, “I can’t wait to work with my Enola Holmes family again. Enola has a special place in my heart – she is strong, fearless, intelligent, and brave. I’m looking forward to fans seeing how their journey continues! “Meanwhile, Cavill simply celebrated with the words:” Woohoo! More Millie Madness! “
The first Enola Holmes introduced the lesser-known Holmes sister to the audience and is an adaptation of the mystery-thriller book series of the same name by Nancy Springer. The story tells the adventures of Sherlock Holmes’ younger sister, Enola, who, after her mother disappears, decides to become a super detective herself. Enola flees to London, where she starts a secret private detective career specializing in missing person investigations.
Directed by Harry Bradbeer and based on a script by Jack Thorne, Enola Holmes stars Sam Claflin, Helena Bonham Carter (who is also confirmed for the sequel), Louis Partridge, Burn Gorman, Adeel Akhtar, Susie Wokoma, Hattie Morahan, and David, among others Bamber alongside Brown, Cavill, and Partridge. The film proved hugely popular with Netflix viewers, becoming the most watched film on the platform, reaching the largest Netflix opening title in 2020, as well as the largest number of countries monitored by Netflix with an audience of 78 million.
With numbers like this, it’s no surprise Netflix has given the green light to a sequel, and while details on the plot are scarce, the return of Louis Patridge as Tewkesbury is a pretty tantalizing clue. While we wait for more news, director Harry Bradbeer has since discussed his eagerness to continue the franchise well beyond a sequel. “Well, I hope I had the energy for it, yes,” he revealed last year. “That would be great. Someone will have the energy for it! It would be wonderful to get five more films out of this scene. I think there are extraordinary stories to tell, and what a time, things like that three-wheeled car – which was a lovely thing we discovered – to put our characters on some of the new ones sometime in the early 20th century To see apparatuses playing. Of course we get planes and the Wright brothers. Who? knows what other challenges will come from this really troubled, productive time. “
The first Enola Holmes can be streamed on Netflix, with production of the sequel to begin in autumn 2021.
