Facundo Pellitri has done well during his loan to La Liga club Deportivo Alaves.

The Uruguayan played a crucial role in the team’s surprise win against reigning champions Atletico Madrid last Saturday.

The 19-year-old was delighted with his team’s triumph and used social media to applaud his teammates and the club’s supporters:

“An important win against Atletico Madrid to collect points in La Liga. Thank you for your support!! Let’s go!!”

Major win over @Atleti to add @LaLiga.

Alaves had lost all five previous games before recording his first win against Atletico.

Though the Man Utd loaner didn’t have much ball, he was tactically aware and made crucial runs to relieve pressure from the team during defense.

He made two successful dribbles, won a free kick and made an important clearance for his team.

United signed the Uruguayan from Club Atletico Peñarol for a five-year deal in the summer of 2020.

After a promising pre-season preparation this year, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer finally decided to loan him to Alaves for his development.

When asked about Pellistri’s performance in the pre-season game against Derby County, he said, “I thought he was smart; Of course he takes his goal very well. “

“First touch, a good pass from Shola, but a great first touch set him up (to goal). I think it shows what it is; he is a difficult player to play. He can walk past people one on one, and I’m very happy with him. “

The 19-year-old has demonstrated excellent ball control, vision and dribbling skills to scare opposing defenders. He still has a lot to improve, especially his physicality and decision-making.

However, the recent performance against Atletico will give him massive confidence and could force Alaves manager Javier Calleja to play him more often.
